Russian Dolphinariums 101: Baikal Seal Aquarium

General Info:

"Aquarium Baikal Seal" was founded in May of 2004. It is made up of 3 different small facilities in Irkusk City, Listvyanka Village, and Sahurta Village.

The Baikal Seal is an endemic species to Baikal Lake in Siberia. No one quite knows how they got to this lake as it is hundreds of kilometers from the ocean. They are sometimes called the Nerpa Seal and are the smallest seal in the world. They have no natural predators aside from humans.
