Over time, these materials can break down into microplastics that contaminate rivers, coastlines, and the ocean, threatening marine ecosystems and the wildlife that depend on them. Although a single tube may seem insignificant, the sheer number used worldwide makes toothpaste packaging a surprisingly large source of preventable plastic waste.
